Time for a time out from painting

The painting table😒

 My shame...

So, to be clear I am not stopping the painting challenge, but if I am to continue I really need to take care of a few things. Normally I try to clean up and organize my room prior to the AHPC but this year I just did not have any energy or drive and well I just sort of fell into the challenge. Well now that lack of preparedness has come back to haunt me. It is slowing down my painting production.

I wish I could say that this disaster that I call a gaming room is the exception but, well this is not the first time that I have posted about it and I could only wish that it will be the last time, but I doubt it. So this week (maybe Monday) I will have to bring some order to this room (wish me luck)

  1. How can you work in that? I can see why you feel like you do. Personally I dislike the painting challenge intensely and do not read many of the blogs for months. From what I have read it’s all a bit lacklustre this year anyway. I see that many of the old stalwarts of the challenge in the past are not that involved this year. Hopefully the thing will slowly wind itself down. My view is the hobby in general is going under, it’s certainly greying now.

  2. Well the point of the post is that it is hard to work like this hence the need to clean. How can one hate the challenge? What did it ever do to you? I like the challenge as it motivates me, this year being a prime example and it gives me something to do in the cold winter months. Why would you wish something to end that quite a few people like? Why read any posts from the challenge if you do not like the challenge why not simply ignore it? Very odd. Anyways, thanks for taking a look at my blog and commenting.

  3. I am the same, the challenge utterly bores me. You all spend three months painting, then take six months off because you are burnt out and fed up. I read a few of the blogs when I chance on them or see a title that I think may interest me. Honestly I try to avoid anything challenge related. A friend of mine simply does not read the blog/blogs for three months. I guess the challenge is marmite to a lot of people. I too think the hobby is aging and I have hardly bought a thing for ages. Nothing much flicks my switch anymore. Simon

    1. That's cool I am bored by many things that others seem to like. This is my third challenge. It is a tool to motivate and focus me on getting stuff done. Before the challenge my yearly production was very low, now in three months I get a lot of stuff done, More than the rest of the year. In 2023 I painted a fair amount of stuff during the non challenge months but apathy (depression) kept me from posting it all. Hell, I stopped posting in August of let year, just was not up to posting... As for aging I do not have enough into to formulate an opinion.

  4. I think you are a lazy sod, whose mother probably cleaned up after you as a kid. Shocking.

    1. Actually I am a person with ADHD and depression, it is amazing if I get anything done. Oh and I did not let my mother in my room.

  6. I sympathize, I prefer to make an upcoming game or campaign my motivation to paint rather than an onlince challenge, but it comes down to whatever works for each person. Clutter resulting from multiple projects seems to be an unavoidable consequence of this hobby. In an ideal world the game room and the painting / prep room should be two separate rooms so the clutter can't creep into the gaming area, sadly most of us do no live in such a world.
