In order to get ready for our new campaign, we figured we should maybe try out the rules again as it has been a long time since we last played this game. Also this game was a way of introducing a new player to the game.
In the trail of clues scenario four plot points are placed 12" in from the corners, then each of the leagues are deployed within 12" of a corner (more than 6" away from a plot point) The major plot point is only placed on the table when one of the leagues has completed a minor plot point.
The set up
The leagues
The Rugged Archeologists set up in the top left corner, the Monks in the top right and the Germans in the lower left.
Stahl and the She wolves
The rugged archeologists
The Monks
Turn one saw the leagues unable to move more than 6" and unable to attack each other.
So close and yet so far away
Lela has a birds eye view |
All leagues were able to close in on the plot point closest to their deployment corner. |
The Monks had trouble dealing with their plot point...
The Germans on the other hand were able to solve their challenge quickly...
...and as a result were able to place the major plot point.
Dr Cook deals with her plot point
Keen interest in the vehicle led to shots and a burst from the Germans at Conrad of the rugged archeologists. |
(the) Hoff advances towards the major plot points
Turn three had an interesting twist played by the rugged archeologists right after they had finished all their activations...
A peaceful hush descended upon the area |
Plot points could still be attempted but Hoff failed hers...
...but not as bad as Gretchen failed!
The Monks finally complete their plot point and quickly fan out from the courtyard. Brother Earth moves towards the nearby parked truck
In the market a tough fight inside the truck breaks out. |
Ilsa, whip in hand assaults Conrad seeking to take control of the truck
Some of the archeologist move to the corner to confront the Germans
The monks move towards the plot point that Gretchin recently failed to complete
Conrad is whipped and thrown out of the truck, while Buck is knocked down
Buck did not recover but Conrad was able to rise just as Ilsa puts the peddle to the metal |
Ilsa turns the car into the alley |
The archeologists and Germans threaten each other |
Hoff swings but Dr Cook dodges
Meanwhile, Brother Earth starts the truck and stunt drives the truck across the square aiming for the ally way.
MacGregory looks to be in trouble, first dropped by gunfire and now about to be run over!
Meanwhile Stahl just looks on from relative safety
Lucky(?) for MacGregory he failed his recovery test and was removed before being run over.
Brothe Earth guns the truck and races down the alley way
A resounding crash spins Elsa's truck around...
Then Brother Earth crashes his truck into the archway wall
Brother Earth takes fire and and is propelled out of the truck
Two leagues are still active beyond the ally |
The Monks manage to snag the last plot point and look to extend the game only to realize that they have run out of chance to do a last action. |
Dr Cook takes a last shot at Brother Fire
The ending positions of the various leagues.
In the end the new player won the game with 4 points, having grabbed the major plot point and one minor plot point. While this was a learning game for him it certainly was also a chance for the rest of us to remember the rules and to adjust to the 2nd edition changes.
I can comment once again - yeah!
ReplyDeleteThanks for running another fun game!
