Porters search the museum for clues in Shady Deals
|
Four of us got together this past weekend to continue the Tomb of the Serpent campaign. At this point it is beginning to look like this may become a never ending campaign...It is still a lot of fun but it looks like it will be a few more sessions before we might see an end to it.
This time around I was a lot more involved in the playing stepping away from being a ref/observer and actively taking up the cause of the servants in trying to prevent the leagues from achieving their goals. Must say I had a lot of fun, could be because the games turned into victories for me. On the other hand, my success means that I have delayed the completion of the campaign, not really my goal at this time.
No full AAR as my more involved participation in the playing of the games precluded my taking of pictures. One of the players started a new league this weekend, we decided to skip over the first chapter adventures and started with
Cairo Caper. This was the third time this player has played this scenario, and sadly with the same end result another defeat. Now this time a new card with a replay clause caused endless amounts of turmoil for him as the card wreaked havoc with his ability to move his characters, as perils kept interrupting his characters movement, then failures to overcome the peril saw the card return to his opponents hand.

Our heroes moving left to right, must complete a plot point a turn or else they will trigger an alarm that will see the forces of evil deploy and attack.

|
Failure to complete a plot point early on (first turn) saw the player league in big trouble right off the bat. It was pretty much downhill from there for the league

|
The servants consisted of 2 insane mobs, 4 militant cultist & a serpent priest

Things just did not go well for our heroes

Still trying to complete plot points

The other game was
Shady Deals set in a market and museum district. The league typically appears mounted, but as we were, for the most part, inside a building and it was decided that the horses needed to be left outside. In a game that featured 5 reward cards and 2 special reward cards, I was extremely lucky to find the major plot point right away. I was also lucky to hold onto the major plot point until the end of the game.

Battle royale

Leader Able Gould vs almost all of the servant forces, a risen priest, 2 militant cultist, and a faceless one.
|
|
The climatic battle, the faceless one (with the major plot point) vs Able Gould, just after this picture was snapped, the risen priest and the 1 remaining militant cultist swarmed Gould, crushing him!

After these two games which saw some sporadic photography, I completely gave up on picture taking for the last two games. We played
Nameless Ruins in which I was able to prevent the player league leader from escaping, while the other two leagues fought it out in an archeological dig site in
Dark Truths. (a different terrain set up than recommended or that we have used before) The new league managed to get most of the plot points but they failed to capture the major plot point allowing their opponent to gain the experience point!
As always a great time playing a fun game system!
Good AAR, nice pictures. The new fortune deck card used in the Cairo Caper with the replay clause that caused endless amounts of turmoil should be discarded from the deck a it imbalances the scenario.
