Some 14 buildings for Pulp Alley Vice Alley campaign

So, I have been working on the buildings for the up coming campaign. Some of them had been started many years ago while others were started recently. Some, like the warehouse above (red brick and green) had been used before but had to be taken apart and redone. Still others were purpose built from either Dust tactics buildings or Pegasus gothic buildings.

Time for a time out from painting

The painting table😒

 My shame...

So, to be clear I am not stopping the painting challenge, but if I am to continue I really need to take care of a few things. Normally I try to clean up and organize my room prior to the AHPC but this year I just did not have any energy or drive and well I just sort of fell into the challenge. Well now that lack of preparedness has come back to haunt me. It is slowing down my painting production.

4Ground Fort

As promised, a crappy video about the 4Ground fort (soon to be OOP?)

It does not have full flexibility to rearrange the fort, pretty well one layout, which is fine by me.

Priming day! 101 vehicles, 12 motorcycles, 20 assorted artillery/mortars/carts now all ready to paint

With the temperature hovering around 0 C I decided to crank up the portable heater in the garage and prime up my early war 20mm WWII vehicles. It was quite the chore, taking maybe 2-2.5 hours with many trips up and down the basement stairs. Nothing like racing up the stairs, then inhaling that delightful toxic air the hovered in the garage. But was worth it, for now all my French, British and German vehicles are ready should a sudden inspiration grab a hold of me. It does occur to me that I will perhaps now need to acquire some early war British if I am to use their vehicles.

I was also able to prime up some more GW 40K scenery, mostly trenches, craters and storage boxes. That should conclude any 40K scenery, although I just realized that I have forgotten to spray up the rhino...

Best month ever for building stuff

January 24th and I have completed 114 kits (many of the kits contained more than 1 model) My giant pile of unfinished/not started kits has been significantly reduced, so much so that it is actually noticeable!!!

In 24 days I have exceeded my output for all of 2020, and, at least with regards to the WWII items, many, many combined years. Some were items that were so close to being completed, that it smacks of insanity that I never did a coup de grace on the model, and been done with it years ago. One can also add to that grouping some of the resin WWII items that consisted of a handful of parts, quick to build, and not a real model at all (but even those sometimes required work as resin is not always well cast) Some, like the Buffaloes did not even have their bits in one place, no I have had to scavenge the house and garage seeking out their hiding spots. For the most part I have managed to locate what I sought, but there are a few items that so far have eluded searches.  Thankfully many boxes/kits were intact and merely required assembling.

For no good reason, I have made a concerted, FOCUSED, attempt to deal with the mess. My pile of models was beginning to look like an episode of Hoarders. Now I have space on my storage shelves, now I can properly asses what I have, what I need to buy to fulfill some TO & Es, and what I do not need.

I plan to continue this into February, possibly switching to the stack of flat packed MDF buildings, Hopefully February, March at the latest, will see me painting this stuff. Right now to bitterly cold to prime my recent builds, but I think I have plenty to paint as it stands...

Making a move on my 20mm WWII collection of unfinished kits

I was wondering if my recent interest in working on my massive collection of unfinished kit builds would translate into action on my 20mm World War two, collection, the answer, apparently is yes.

First up was one of my own personal challenge builds, something that I have put off for many years, for no good reason: the Airfix Buffalo. There is no good reason why I have avoided this kit, it really is no worse than many other kits, and yet, I have started but never finished building one of these models for decades!

Good seven model weekend

Nice as it was to be able to safely breathe again in my room, it was back to the model cement this weekend!

Halo UNSC Pelican

So today I built two of these ships. I thought I would take a break from all the glue sniffing, and try this snap together model. Well, it certainly was a breeze to build. Everything was already off the sprue, the instructions were clear and well illustrated, and amazingly everything fit so well that no glue was required!

My other T2 model is done

This time it is the Aerial HK Machine it is also 1/32 scale, but looks good to me.

My new Pulp League?

So I had to move this box while searching for my resin 6mm sci-fi buildings, so the result is one more assembly done! This is a model bought in December 2019, so only a little more than a year ago...

Next on the workbench, some epic stuff bought in 2020

So with the idea that I will no longer keep moving boxes of unassembled stuff around my room, I am determined to build what ever I touch. In this case I moved this box of Adeptus Titanicus scenery so that I could find a spot for my newly assembled German flying saucer, well rather than stack it somewhere else, I guess it is time to build it. For good measure I searched out another box. this one for Aeronautica Imperialis. And finally I also dug out my based, but unpainted, 6mm resin sci-fi buildings.

Two days into the new year and my first post...

So I thought I would tackle this little project. It has been in my basement for a few months (less time than other items), but I have been keen to work on it, and well, I did!

WIP, another ship...I fear this will not be the end of it!

A very good size galleon, just the the tempting target for  some pirates. However with 28 cannons, and 8 swivel guns it is a target that can fight back!.

Saturday, primarily a priming day

Who knew you could over exert oneself snipping bits of metal off of the feet of metal miniatures...?

Something I built this past Friday

So with a Pulp Alley Lemuria campaign looming in the new year, and with half my gaming table occupied by an evil base for an as yet to be determined spy game, what do I wind up doing on Friday, but build an elevated highway! Madness!

Some more layout work

Administration area

Just a few pictures of some of the work in progress. This is really a little bit of a waste of time, as I will just have to remove everything when it comes time to actually build this monstrosity.

What it does do is allow me to try out stuff I have lying around to see what might work. Happy to see that the building blocks might work as quick walls. I had thought about cutting them out of foam board, but the wood blocks would be quick and easy to use. Either way I plan to cover the walls with printed out wall designs to try and cover what they really are.

Since these pictures were taken I have tested out a few more item, a helicopter pad, and a tall gantry. So in other words more pictures to come soon.

More VSF stuff being worked on

After many years of sitting in a box I have finally decided to tackle some VSF projects. The big walker is my version of the classic Martian invaders tripod. It is very tall, and will certainly dominate any battlefield. As usual it built from a dollar store find, in this case a device for flying a kite. Simple removed the crank, gutted the interior and found some legs (used plastic novelty straws) Fortunately/unfortunately it is big enough that I think I will need to add lights to this, it just seems to cry out for them.

The other item is a simple conversion of a cheap plastic tractor, with a 15mm turret attached, The gun is one of many guns that came with the turret.

Walker project now with possible gun locatios

Hello

So some progress made roughed in some ideas on how to arm the walker.
As always comments and suggestions are appreciated
