Thanks for the overview of that kit! Does the roof of the "keep" lift off, too? I think that it was off camera while you mentioned it.
With some shortening here and there, two kits might yield a rectangular fortification with identical towers at all four corners, one gate, and an interior keep.
Although foamcore would be much cheaper and somewhat thicker, building with it would require more work, including design and cutting, and the resultant build may well lack the precision of those laser-cut kits. Hmm...
Yes, I was thinking that offcuts from the crenellations, if continuous, as you've shown, could be used as extra lengths of parapet.
It would still have some interesting conversion potential but, like many other possible projects, whether it would be worth doing or not is the key question. How many different scenarios could be set around a Roman/Ancient Egyptian/Han Chinese (with some stretching of historicity) desert fort, and to which alternative uses could the same money, space, and time be applied? Hmm...

DeleteAnother question: does the main gate have enough clearance to allow a 28mm mounted rider without a raised lance or spear to pass through?
ReplyDeleteYes. The gate itself is just a tad over 2 1/2" tall.
