This game was played just before Christmas of 2018, and was an opportunity for players to test out their leagues for the up coming Lemuria campaign, set to commence on January 19th 2019.
It was also a chance for me to test out some scenario ideas.
I discuss the scenario in detail after part one...
In this game three leagues deployed, and although it was a scatter deployment people tended to concentrate their leagues either in the center grand plaza, or in the two side plazas. The background of this adventure was that something has happened to the citizens of Venice, they seemed to be acting like automatons, and the leagues were given the task of finding the cause of this ailment, and unraveling the mystery of the strange gifts that had appeared in the city.
Also deployed at the start of the game were 9 hostile bystander mobs, that remained static until such time as the leagues began to interact with the plot points or the players interacted with the mobs. Speaking of plot points only three minor plot points were initially deployed, with the fourth minor plot point being deployed once one of the first three minor plot points was completed. The major plot point was revealed once any two minor plot points had been completed.
There was also the chance of misdirection, as one trap and one red herring card were included. Each of the three initial plot points were set challenges each required 3 successes the first with Cunning, the second with finesse, and the third with might. If that was not enough if the plot point was not completed in one round, the character attempting to complete the plot point had to make a cunning (2) saving throw or they would become mesmerized (as per the second level ability) The remaining plot points were the standard random draw.
Great report. Look forward to the next adventure.
