Boardgame night August 24th

Two cooperative game played the other night (well actually 3 as we played Sentinels twice) The first game, Atlantis Rising went the way I expected, we lost, spectacularly! We have only played this game twice but neither of the games made me think that there was ever a chance for us to win.

Despite having selected the explorer, which should have made it easier to gather resources, my insistence on rolling 1s certainly put a crimp in my plans to save Atlantis. While we did manage to build quite a few of devices we were never ahead in  the game.

Our second and third game that night was Sentinels of the Multiverse, The definitive edition. It went much better as we won both games. The first game was against Baron Blade. He was not the challenge one would have hoped for. You see, it is not so much winning the game, what is more interesting is encountering a challenging foe and trying to defeat them.

I played Fanatic and Legacy for both games. Fanatic has change quite a bit from the earlier edition. While she still has much of what made her interesting she has become more fun to play. I spent a fair amount of time inflicting damage on myself to bring me below 10 hit points so that some special powers would activate. She was very interesting. Legacy was ok, better than 1st edition but still an odd character to play.

Across the table from me was Haka and Bunker. Again both have changed quite a bit with Bunker becoming more useful, while Haka had some tradeoffs in his powers that made him a bit different to play.
