So, I came back from Hotlead with quite a few items, so much that it will take a few posts to cover everything. The bring and buy was excellent as usual, plenty of great deals on a wide range of stuff. John got a massive East Africa WWI lot of painted troops, civilians, objectives etc. For my part the only painted figures that I found were two 28mm well painted British Napoleonic to be used in Silver Bayonet.
I did find a lot of 20mm WWII resin vehicles for the Germans, Russians and Americans. I also picked up some boardgames. I also bought a lot of 3D printed buildings and scatter terrain, more on that later.
The highlight of the convention for me happened at the last minute on Sunday, just as we were getting ready to return to Ottawa.
I had found yet another seller of 1/72 WWII figures (there was a lot of 1/72 stuff for sale this year. While he was packing up my purchase for me I chanced to look in the rather large hardware storage bin on the table in front of me. Much to my surprise I found a collection of French and Russian (mostly) Minifigs 15mm Napoleonic miniatures. I confess I really did not look through every tray just enough to make my heart skip a beat! He was selling off some of the best painted 15mm troops that I have ever seen. I am sure he could read the expression on my face (possibly there was some drooling too)
I hesitated to even ask how much he wanted for the lot, I mean there was a lot of stuff. (so much so that I still have not counted up everything) The price he asked for nearly floored me, far too low for the quality of the miniatures. I turned to John to get his opinion on the valuation of the collection, I am sure he wondered about my sanity in questioning the sale price. Suffice to say I quickly said yes, and now I have two armies (which is handy as I have quite the collection of rule sets)
So here are some images of the figures that I have pulled out so far. I need to clear some space on my gaming table to lay them all out. So far the only figures I have counted is 30 artillery pieces between the two armies. More updates when I have counted everything.
