So, as with any convention there are merchants and a bring and buy. This year I managed to pick up a few things, there was so much that I could have bought but I tried to apply some restraint, some...
The items pictured above were purchased from CENTURIES. Kamal is the owner/operator and a more pleasant person you would be hard pressed to find. We first encountered him at Hotlead in Stratford Ontario. Our club was so impressed with him that we invited him to Cangames and he graciously accepted. This is his second year at Cangames and we historical gamers truly appreciate having access to so many miniature options including some fantasy stuff as well. Please visit his site to see all that he has on offer.
So, beyond Centuries, I also found some good buys at the bring and buy.
These are my $5.00 games (although maybe one of them cost $10.00) They were all impulse buys as none of them were on my list of games I needed/wanted, hell I had only heard of three of them before. All were in pretty good condition with all but Merchant of Venus having been played. MoV counters were unpunched, but oddly the rules were missing. Easy fix courtesy of BBG.
My two free games. I picked these up Sunday morning, the poor things had been rejected since the night before. It is something of a tradition to have a free table for items not claimed at the end of the bring and buy or for items deliberately donated by those who do not want to bring them home. I participated in selling stuff this year and contributed 4 RPG books to the free table, all were gone by Sunday morning.
Two RPGs came home with me (this after I managed to get rid of 20+ RPG books) Chill cost me all of $1.00 while Against the Dark Master cost $20.00. Ironically I almost sold off some adventures for chill, but at the last minute decided to keep them, so now I have the rules to play the scenarios. As for Against the Dark master, it is a Rolemaster based game that I have never heard of, but it looks comprehensive (certainly heavy enough!) I felt it might be nice to have an all in one Rolemaster game.
Thanks to Midgard Heroic Battles I have started looking over my various old Warhammer armies, including my Empire army. So, when I saw these at Crossed Swords I could make an informed decision to buy them as I had already inventoried my cavalry needs. The tank is nicely done but a little garish for my tastes these days, but some dark wash will bring it down a tone.
While this was not found at Cangames, it was purchased from a store that is just around the corner from the venue, Hobbiesville and a store that I might not have visited if not for the convention. This is a game that has been on my list for some time now, but seemed to be permanently unavailable. It looks like a fun quick road race game with plenty of action and destruction. Coincidentally I watched it being played at the convention!
So, a good size haul some silly but inexpensive purchases and some more ostly stuff that I really did not need but wanted. Good times!
