Another board game weekend, and catching up on some other recently played board games

This weekend we set up another game of Defenders of the Realm. It went a lot longer than the first time we played it and it felt like we had a better chance to win, despite some bad dice rolls, and disjointed tactics by me. We still lost, but had killed one general, so, better than last time.

We also had another game of Sentinels of the Multiverse. Despite the large number of hit points that the villain could sustain we were able to slowly peck away at her, while she was largely unable to inflict much damage on us. The environment was responsible for most of the damage that we sustained, by adding extra damage to the minor damage the she could inflict. By 3 AM it was all over!

We recently played two other games Dungeon Lords and Atlantis Rising.

Both were fun games to play. Atlantis Rising is a cooperative game, and despite our best efforts Atlantis did not rise! It is a resource management game, which sees players trying to acquire various resources that will allow them to buy technology. The tech cards all need to be purchased in order to win the game, and the cards typically have some bonus to aid the players.

Dungeon Lords sees the players in control of a dungeon. They must do a number of activities over the course of two years. Among other things they need to build the dungeon, recruit occupants, build traps, mine for gold, find food,(so that they can feed and pay their employees) and a variety of other tasks.

Oh, and they have to defend from interlopers who seek to pillage and destroy their nicely built dungeons. These nasty 'adventurers' raid the dungeons once a year.
